Bridges of the World Fall 2018 News Letter


For 15 years, World Artists Experiences has journeyed together with people from more than 125 countries and thousands of volunteers to build bridges. By partnering with embassies, ministries of culture and education, and international organizations and institutions, the universal language of the arts brings countries’human spirit through World Artists Experiences’ Ambassador Series, International Education, Cultural Immersion, Receptive Diplomacy, and Sustainable Development.

The artists come from all walks of life ... from professionals who perform on world stages, to those from everyday life, to youth who sing and dance. All genres bring joy to our communities, and, through these experiences, the arts reveal timeless, universal ideas and themes that transcend borders and overcome barriers.

Egyptian Maritime Archaeology Lecture


Egyptian noted maritime professor and underwater explorer, Dr. Emad Khalil, will speak on “A Century of Maritime Archeology in Egypt” at the Maryland Historical Trust at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Trust’s headquarters, 100 Community Place, Crownsville.

Open free to the public, the talk will feature an overview of the most significant maritime archaeological discoveries in Egypt. Highlights include discussion of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, the submerged towns of Herakleion and Canopus and other sites dating from past Egyptian and Roman eras.

Professor Khalil is director of the Alexandria Centre for Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage at Alexandria University.  While in Maryland, Dr. Khalil will talk on his work at St. Mary’s College on Jan. 31 and at Frostburg State University in Frostburg on Feb. 1.

10th Annual Bridges to the World Film Festival

10th Annual Bridges to the World International Film Festival Features Five Foreign Films Over Five Weeks

World Artists Experiences and the International Division of Maryland’s Office of the Secretary of State invite the public to attend free screenings of five films in the 10th Annual Bridges to the World International Film Festival.  The festival will run for five weeks beginning the week of February 5 and ending March 9 in five communities throughout Maryland.  In Salisbury, the festival will begin January 29 and end March 12.

A film from a different country will be shown each week.  The films were selected and provided by the respective embassies to represents their country’s spirit and art of film making.
